The second city we visited was Xi'an near the site of the 2000 year old Terracotta Warriors.
They were discovered by a local farmer digging a well in 1974.
Some of the pits remain unexcavated as scientists and archeologists solve the mystery of how and why the original bright colours immediately fade when exposed to air.
Thousands of terracotta warriors are painstakingly uncovered by archeologists.
Only three warriors have been found intact to date.
The warriors are carefully cleared and labelled as the archeologists reassemble this massive puzzle of broken fragments.
While the warriors and horses are being repaired, they are confined to the 'field hospital.'
Here, the soldiers are almost complete.
Warriors and horses in the trenches.
Each warrior is unique. No two are alike.
It is estimated that there are 6,000 to 8,000 soldiers in the area.
We were left with a sense of awe, as they were so magical and silent.
