This sculpture depicts thirty-two fishermen, their wives, and children enveloped by the guardian angel wings of St. Elmo. It was to be a ten year project, but the artist died in 1983 after only six years of work with the sculpture fifty percent complete. The white plaque on he left side of the monument conceals a small compartment where his ashes were placed.
