The Lions of 22nd Street by rodriguezPhoto

Many homes in the Poverty Ridge area of Sacramento are well protected by lions.

He's a beauty! Milo has a lion look about his face. Skye on the other hand looks totally domestic.

The ironically named Poverty Ridge area has some of Sacramento's finest homes from the late 19th and early 20th century. While I can't say for sure, I believe that the original homeowners, often "self-made" men, might have thought of the lions as a way of symbolizing their power and prestige to all who pass by.

Very nice shot of a striking statue. What are the signifcance of the lions protecting homes, some distinct culture?
