Located in Plaza Alonso Martinez, in the historic center of Burgos, connected to the Cathedral through the streets Lain Calvo and La Paloma. The site occupied by the Captaincy Palace, also called the Palace of the Chancellery, was built on an ancient XV century palace, Palace of the Four Towers, belonging to the family Brizuelas. In October 1936, in full Spanish Civil war, in this place, General Franco was appointed Chief of the national side for the Defense Board headed by General Miguel Cabanellas Ferrer. Until 1996 it hosted the Military Captaincy General of the Pyrenean-West region. At present this military building will house the Regional Military Museum.
