Black Squirrel

Mud Lake
Ottawa, Ontario

A melanistic subgroup of the Eastern Gray Squirrel. Or, as I learned in genetics many moons ago; same genotype but different phenotype of the E. Gray Squirrel.

What makes this interesting; other than the Fall background colours; is the tiny green insect adhering to one of the squirrel's whiskers.

Terrific sharp image Doug. Great to catch that little insect too.

What a surprise bonus with the little insect - Ross is right with his comment.

Since I was beside you and took the same shots ... I can say: Excellent processing :) Yellows not too saturated, post not to bright, nice details on the black squirrel!
