Cotton Harvest
by Rosemary Woods

October is for cotton harvesting. The big white loaf of bread looking thing is referred to as a "cotton module" which will be sent over to the local cotton gin which will separate the seeds from the cotton. The cotton fibers will then be used for clothing and other cotton goods.

I like this, Rosemary. I too find it interesting as I don't see this in our area. I like that you included the background, including the hills and the enormous field.

I saw those in Georgia once. I think you did a nice job of capturing the "module", but I think if you had cropped out the hole or whatever the mess is in the foreground, the picture might be a little better. To me it's very distracting. I do like the overall sense of the picture, but maybe getting a bit closer or zooming in a bit more so you can really see the empty stalks of cotton next to the "module" might have more pop.

We've got some cotton fields about 20 miles north of us and I passed by them just last week. One effect from the harvest is we have little cotton boughs all along the roads that pass by the fields.
