Renting a BMW R1200RT Sport Tourer

Kingman, AZ view map

I rented a wonderful high-end motorcycle for 4 days and took a 1,551 mile round trip (map is on the bottom image below)
to Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas, NV and then on to Death Valley in California. The ride and performance differences
were dramatic compared to my Vulcan 900. Plenty of smooth power to get up to speed and an advanced suspension to really
keep the bike firmly on the road. Plus it had some creature comforts like heated grips, heated seats, cruise control, and an
electronically adjustable windshield. The latter proved handy as I ran into rain on my journey up to Kingman, AZ. I didn't have
proper rain gear but the windshield and fairing did a wonderful job of pushing the rain away from me. I rented this bike to see
if this was something I'd like to get as a better long-distance motorcycle. As much as I liked this bike, it is just too big for me
and very unforgiving in maneuvering around parking spaces (too top heavy for my scrawny frame). I didn't take a lot of photos
on this trip, instead concentrating on shooting video. I used two GoPro cameras: one pointing forward and one looking behind.
Now I will spend the next month or so sifting through nearly 17 hours of video for something I can distill down to a few minutes.

Below, getting packed up for the next segment of the trip up to Overton, NV:

Looks like it was built for Batman. You must have had a great ride.

Indeed, the BMW looks like a nice bike. That is quite a lot of miles- you may want to check into being a member of the Iron Butt club. Am surprised you did it by yourself....

Really like the character of the place you capture in the top image. What a road trip in 4 days! The video will be fun to see.

A beautiful bike Sam. We talked about this when I saw you last. I like you interesting review and the amp you provided. Can't wait to see some of your video.

love this authentic 'road trip' image, and the bike looks a deluxe rocket...17 hrs video is a challenge, you must be very selective editing that...looks a great trip too, so maybe join you nest time up this way..

You were close to a great bike, but unfortunately not appreciated since you are a novice in riding bicycles!
