We drove from Moab to Monument Valley today. The weather was not very good. We had planned a photography tour of Monument Valley for tomorrow, but it doesn't look good weather wise. As we were nearing our destination, the sun broke out and lit up some features in the valley. We pulled over and set to taking pictures. It was a fleeting moment. We were there at the right time and got some nice pictures. Ginny might call them dramatic. It is interesting to think that if we wanted to get this particular mesa today we would have sat for hours and had only a ten minute window to take pictures. I think that photography can certainly be an opportunistic endeavor. You have to be prepared at all times to stop on the roadside and start snapping. It helps if you are traveling through great scenic areas to begin with.
