I'm not sure this lens is 8 element version or not, the last element is not flat.

According to the above info, 8 element one's last element is not flat.
7 element version looks like the last element is flat according to the diagram.

Note: I mean "last element" is "last element's camera side surface".

The fast lenses normally have an extra + element at the rear end,
this one has one more + element at the front, fairly symmetrical
optical design. That is a reason of this rather heavy lens I guess.
