The viewpoint at the moraine is also a good place to spot smaller critters (ground squirrels, marmots, and pikas). Normally pikas can be very difficult to see; many times hiking we've heard a pika but then could not see it unless it moved. Here though the pikas are not shy at all and can easily be seen scampering around the rocks.
