Still one of the best displays of the aurora borealis I've seen - from in the mountains of Iceland north of Vatnajökull very far from streetlights, during winter fieldwork. This was the view towards the south, with the stars of Orion and Taurus (and Saturn) in the background. I wish I'd had a better camera at the time!
It was reindeer for dinner in the hut too, with whisky and Gammel dansk for dessert...
