When I first saw this gull in a local park I thought it had found something to eat in a garbage pail.
However, when I got closer I realized it had a baby snapping turtle.




Snapping turtles have been seen in the nearby ponds so this may have been one of their recently hatched young.
The gull may have grabbed the baby turtle as it made its way to the water or it may have found the turtle already dead in the grass.





Another 'cruel world' ending.
