So tonight there was a supermoon; the closest approach of the moon to the earth, making it appear fractionally larger than normal. And larger still near the horizon, though that's an optical illusion that cameras don't share. And unlike some parts of the world we won't be sharing in the lunar eclipse; that's happening at the wrong time for us.
However I decided to head down and take a shot anyway, in the hope of getting a large moon rising over the horizon. Nope. There was cloud on the horizon and the moon rose too early. There was still too much sunlight in the sky. Nonetheless I decided to take a few shots. As I was doing so I noticed a seagull heading in to photobomb my shot so I thought "what the hey" and started tracking it across the frame that I'd set up to shoot the moon and the ship.
And if the sharpness is any guide... I did indeed nail it. I was actually a touch surprised myself when I looked at the shots. The gull seems to be heading for the moon.
Or maybe toward a chip that someone dropped.
And that may be it from me for a little while, not by choice and not because of time constraints. Rather, this time, because my subscription to PBase is about to run out and some of you know about the problems with renewing it. For those of you who don't, hopefully it'll be sorted by the time your own renewal time comes.
