The fires aren't near here, Mariposa, (now) though we all know that fire is only one thoughtless smoker, camper, driver, lightning strike, lawn mower, or chain saw spark away. The foothills are covered in smoke from the fires around the valley, including the Creek Fire (now fully contained), the Rough Fire (just north of Pinehurst, big and troubling), the Tanaya fire just south of Yosemite (455 acres, 25% contained), and the Oak fire, near Sonora and 95% contained.
