And so we have arrived in the Promised Land. Dave is right, this is unbelievable scenery. We got to Moab in the middle of the afternoon after 6 hours on the road. Everybody took a break then we headed out into Arches National Park for pictures until after sunset. Our first stop was this icon of the park, Balanced Rock. We were blessed with nice sun. A few scattered clouds would have been nice, but I am not complaining. This photo is a five exposure panorama of Balanced Rock and his friends.
I often comment on the particular details of a photo. In this case, I ended up with this crop which is 40 megapixels. Of course you can't see that here since I reduced it to 800 pixels wide. I could have made this shot with my 24-105 and cropped it down, but the result would have been less that 10 megapixels. This is one photo I would certainly print when I get back home. More megapixels is better. It would print nicely at 6X18 or so.
The good news for us is that we will spend over a week in the area during the next month and a half.
