Juvenile Cardinal

Warrenton, Virginia

By mid-August we usually have lots of immature Northern Cardinals all around our yard. I try not to overdo taking photos of Virginia's State Bird, but some poses are hard to resist.
As you can see, our Crape Myrtles are 'riddled' from Japanese Beetles; but the beetles are prime food for juvenile Cardinals.
