Red Carpenter Ant Tending Leafhopper Nymphs

Camponotus chromaiodes

I came across this ant tending leafhopper nymphs. I believe the ants are obtaining honeydew from the nymphs which I think are probably a species of Gyponana.

Thank you to Tom Murray for his help in identifying this Red Carpenter Ant.

What a great shot this is. Yes, they will be happily caretaking the nymphs in return for some sweet honeydew! V
