Bamboo Lanterns

Higashiyama, Kyoto, Japan view map

These bamboo lanterns are placed in a stream running through Maruyama Park during the Higashiyama Hanatouro. The Kyoto Hanatouro website claims there are a thousand of these lanterns, but I couldn't find much more than than these. It even took me to my 7th visit to Hanatouro just to find these ones. That's why if you're visiting Kyoto from overseas spend a few nights at the Hanatouro, because I'm always finding more even after 7 times going to the Higashiyama Hanatouro.

I took a number of photos at this spot, but this one I like the best because the person crossing the bridge is wearing black shoes. It kind of gives it a shadowy impression of the human presence. When someone's light coloured shoes got in the other photos, it was too much of a distraction.

This photo was captured as a RAW (.NRW) file and post processed in DxO Optics Pro.
