JUNE, 2015 POSTS - posts, starting with March 2009, are archived in:

June 19, 2015

Can do Pearl, your email with those of the others is posted below.
Those who have scanned photos and documents before know how time-consuming that can be.
To do dozens of pages goes well beyond just time-consuming.
Carl has many times 'burned' copies of CDs for the class and that can also be not only time
consuming but does come with other substantial cumulative costs.
So $3 will probably barely cover material costs and postage... labor on their part is gratis.
Kudos to both Pearl and Carl for that.
June, I know the feeling on your lost 'memories'.
We've done that quite a few times in our household... not only photos and mementos but a
couple of times or so even checks and important documents.
One other thing on the yearbook photos... although there are some photos on the pbase web
site, they are of low resolution and don't include all of the high school years.
Which makes the CD offering ideal for those who don't have yearbook copies or want to do
individual prints of photos.

Irene, you missed out on not only the luau and good times with classmates-friends, but also a
chance to stroll through the old campus - which really hasn't changed all that much since we
all were last there as high school students.
Looking forward to seeing you and Douglas in Vegas this October.

Thanks for the input on Kageyama and Miyashiro, Raynor.
They've already been accounted for on the 'Gone But Not Forgotten' segment of the Pbase site.
But that reminds me to once again ask for kokua in updating-correcting names and dates for
those classmates who are unfortunately no longer with us.
Following is a link to that particular segment on the reunion photos website:

Now that the luau reunion is just a pleasant memory, the only 'official' reunion events upcoming
are the California August reunion and the Las Vegas October reunion.
If and when there are any updates and further info on the California reunion that are sent to me
they'll be posted as soon as I can do so on this blog.
In the meantime below are some suggestions for things to do while in downtown Las Vegas this
October - besides gambling, eating, stage shows, and who knows what else of course.

This museum used the same people who set up the Spy Museum in Washington D.C.

For those who want to add just a bit more excitement to the museum, consider this:
Here's a bit more on that 'garage' :

For the faint-of-heart or those who don't like guns here's a combo that's a little milder:
And this is what that other museum is all about:

Both of the museums by the way are within walking distance from the Main Street Hotel-Casino,
about 20 min for the 'Neon' and about 15 min for the 'Mob'.
The Gun Garage is towards the West just beyond the freeway from the Luxor Hotel-Casino,
but they do provide free shuttle hotel pick-up and drop-off.

Lastly, below is a link to the latest issue of happenings in Vegas:

Any donation to our class fund will get a disk if they want it.
Sometimes the postage varies according to the destination, and the demands will continue
on, so I'll just settle with you on the postage cost after all the deliveries are made.
How's that?

Yeah, it's okay with me just mostly for postage.

Do you mind if Hal puts it in the blog for others who might want copies?
You can charge what you want as you would be doing the work.

Hi Everybody,

I received the Kaimuki Yearbook disk in the mail and want to thank all of you so much!
Pearl, I understand that you went through the trouble of producing the disk
(can't imagine how many hours that took!).
Carl, I know you made the copy and finally ending up mailing it, and Carole and Bing,
you were the Pony Express carriers in between in trying to get this the disk to me!

I know Carl has heard the story of why I don't have any of my yearbooks.
In 1965, I came to LA from Hawaii and had my yearbooks, pictures, letters, and other
memorabilia all in one box.
That box went with me through my many moves to various apartments and houses.
During one of those moves, Steve decided to "help" me with my stuff because I had my
hands full with a toddler and an infant.
He took one look into the box and just saw what he considered "old junk" and threw the
whole box away!
By the time I realized it was gone, it was too late to retrieve it.
So besides a few pictures that somehow survived by being outside of that box, I have
nothing but memories of my life in Hawaii!

It has been 35 or so years since I have seen most of those yearbooks and they bring back
so many memories!
Thank you again to all of you!

Aloha Hal,

Although I was not able to attend the KHS reunion this year in Hawaii because of plans to visit
the islands during month of July it's always wonderful to hear all the input.
As always, sounds like the committee did a fantastic job.
Kudos to all!!
I do plan to attend the reunion in Las Vegas this October and looking forward to seeing our
Appreciate information on the passing of our classmates Ethel and Gordon... although I did not
know them well, it is sad to know they are no longer with us.
Condolences to their families.

Keep up the great work. You are the glue holding this great Association together.
To the list of those passed please add Roy Kageyama and, I believe, Glenn Miyashiro.
Sorry had to miss the luau, like June Kobayashi, talked to Betty Ann and Hank who gave a
blow by blow description of the great KauKau opportunities.
I think I gained a couple of pounds just listening.
Hope to make the Vegas reunion.

June 8, 2015

We all missed you at the luau June, hope to see you at the LV reunion this October.

Thanks Louise, agree with June, everyone looked terrific in the photos.

Really enjoyed talking story with you at the luau Edwina.
Too bad you won't be attending the LV reunion, and I know what you mean about the
almost unbearable humidity with the summers in some areas of Japan.

Below are obits of the recent passing of two of our classmates.

Take care everyone.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next reunion.

Hi Louise,

Thank you so much for the pictures!
The women all haven't changed in years and look great (so young!) and the men are as
handsome as ever.
I feel as though I'm the only one who's aging.
And the food looks like typically delicious Hawaii food!
Bing just sent me an e mail telling me about all the wonderful places she and Hank have
been to eat since they arrived in Hawaii and I am salivating.
Talk about being "food obsessed" ... that is the perfect description of me right now.

I miss you all and hope I will see you soon!

Aloha Hal:

Many thanks to you and the committee for all the hard work that went into planning this
year's reunion activities and Luau.
It was so great seeing everyone at the Reunion luau at KHS.
EVERYONE LOOKED GREAT!... even if my memory did fail me at times... (lol).
It was such an enjoyable evening (Thank you so much).
I look forward to the next gathering.
Wish I could make it to Las Vegas but I'll be in Japan for my grandson's wedding
( August is the worst month to be is hot and humid, totally the pits!!!)

Thanks so much again...
