Your attempt at capturing this critical moment almost worked. You froze the action around the animal's head and achieved sufficient motion blur elsewhere to emphasise the "plunge". However, the large difference in brightness of the water and the animals' fur has resulted in the most important parts of the image being under-exposed. It is OK to correct such things when processing nature images.
