The Rio Grande cuts eight miles through the Mesa de Anguila to create Santa Elena Canyon. This picture is in the canyon (the wall is actually Mexico).
There's a short trail that goes about 1/4 mile along the river into the canyon. You may need wading shoes to cross Terlingua Creek If you go when there have been recent rains.
