Too Close for Comfort

Tucson, AZ

I was up on the deck shooting a nice thunder cell west of me. Most of the activity was far enough away that I wasn't too concerned.
Then this one hit and the crack of thunder was no more than a half second away from the flash. Done for the night. To put
the proximity into perspective, this was shot at 18mm on a full frame camera. So I'm happy I got almost all of the discharge in the frame.

The strike looks massive compared to the small houses. Love the sky color. V

Another WOW image! A bit scary to hear how close it was to your home. But good for you taking the risk of being out on your deck during that storm...your images are wonderful!

Another impressive shot ! V.

This shot is full of drama. The lightning strike is nice and sharp and there is enough light to allow the viewer to see some details in the foreground for context. Nicely done. V
