First open view along the east-west running Timberline Trail. Still too early to appreciate the colors on the mountain, but still a nice view, but not as nice as when I return here in the later afternoon, as you'll see. McNeil Point is the first bump on the ridge on the left. That's my destination. Back in my youth I used to hike along that ridge to the last bump at about 7,500 feet. There the ridge falls sharply off in cliffs.
