HAYNES DESCRIPTION:
First announced during 1946, the Javelin reached full production by 1947. Technically very advanced for its day, the Javelin has codependent front suspension, torsion bars all round and telescopic shock absorbers. The 1486cc engine is the horizontally opposed, ohv type. The beetle back four door body is fitted with bench seats to give it a carrying capacity for size passengers in consequence a column change gear shift is employed. The Javelin was rallied with great success, taking first and third places in the 1949 Monte Carol Rally. It was also placed fourth in the 2 litre touring class of the 1949 Belgian 24 hour Grand Prix at Spa.
