We had a long driving day today, over 300 kilometers. That is the longest so far on this trip. It included a passage over a pass in near zero visibility with very heavy traffic coming the other way on a narrow two lane road with idiot bicyclists to boot. We got a real close up look at a giant bus that was swerving into our lane to avoid an idiot bicyclist. The town we were headed for, Seyðisfjörður, is one end of a ferry that comes from Denmark. It had just arrived and disgorged lots of vehicles which were all headed over the single road available to get out of Seyðisfjörður.
Later in the day we arrived at Bakkagerði estri. There was a puffin and sea gull nesting area where you could get very close to the little devils. Today's photo is one that Ginny got. I like it a lot. We watched the birds for a while then started the drive back. We stopped in Egilsstaðir on the return trip to the hotel and visited the East Icelandic Museum of Culture. It turned out to be a nice visit. They had a special exhibit about reindeer that was more than we could ever expect o know about them, but it was interesting.
Our plan for the trip back to the hotel was to take a scenic drive, but we were pretty beat so we took the shortest route back. After filling the car with gas, we went to the room and did our usual thing of me downloading photos and Ginny doing her scrapbook.
