The Hubbard Glacier, a large tidewater glacier in the far reaches of Yakutat Bay, is 300' (100 m) tall, and spans almost 8 miles (12.7 km). In very recent history, the glacier has sealed the channel on the right several times, creating a lake behind the ice, and releasing the dammed water with great force when the glacier retreated. The color you see in the glacier is an incredible shade of translucent blue and unlike anything I have ever seen.
