Designed by William Barlow, this shot shows a new "art" installation called Eclipse. The darker clock face appears to move across the white original clock face as you move about the station.
The girders were originally brown but the Directors of the Midland railway had them painted sky blue to match the colours seen through the magnificent roof. A month or two of steam engine "exhaust" soon discoloured them back to a much darker hue.
