N&W Class A #1218 Steam Locomotive Wheel Arrangement

Built in 1943 in Roanoke, Virginia by Norfolk & Western Railroad, this is the last surviving Class A steam locomotive in existence. This is also the last steam locomotive in the world using the 2-6-6-4 Whyte System of wheel arrangement. During it's operational life, it was the most powerful steam locomotive in the world.

I'm always fascinated by such detail from locomotives, and you have captured this arrangement well. The panoramic format is particularly effective here, too. V.
