Built in 1943 in Roanoke, Virginia by Norfolk & Western Railroad, this is the last surviving Class A steam locomotive in existence. This is also the last steam locomotive in the world using the 2-6-6-4 Whyte System of wheel arrangement. During it's operational life, it was the most powerful steam locomotive in the world.
