While whaling crews are distributing their catch to each family that attends and
afterwards feasting on the catch the Nalukataq blanket is erected. The "blanket"
is made from several Bearded Seal skins sewn together along with rope handles
circling the outer edge. In addition, separate ropes attached to the "blanket" are
tied to four wooden crossed beams and pulled tight raising the "blanket" to a little
above waist height between the crossed beams. Later, after feasting on the catch,
men and women circle the "blanket" and while holding the rope handles pull out to
throw the "blanket dancer" in the air.
