The Chrysalis of the Monarch Butterfly

The caterpillar escaped from the bowl I had it in because it knew it was "time" to make it chrysalis. It attached itself to the edge of the bookcover upon which the bowl was placed. I watched it shed its skin of yellow and black stripes and form its chrysalis. Look at the beautiful gold beads, almost like a necklace, that it made. I am closely watching it because I want to be able to release the butterfly in the garden. Nature is wondrous.

The life cycle is so amazing! You are fortunate to be able to watch this up close and document the changes. I can't wait to see the changes!

So interesting. I hope it emerges when you're home and can photograph it!
