I started out this morning at Bay Area Park trying some experiments with AI Servo AF on the 5D Mk3. I had a particular project in mind. After experimenting for quite a while, I found I couldn't get it to do what I wanted. I went home and found a Canon publication about the autofocus and after reading that decided the camera wasn't going to do what I wanted it to do. I haven't given up on the project, I will find a work around I am sure.

Anyway, we had some decent weather so I decided to go out at sunset and mess around. I was after some panorama shots, but I wanted to shoot with the camera in the vertical position. That was easy to set up on the tripod so I started blasting away. The photo you see was stitched from five exposures in the vertical format. I could have just shot it with a single exposure, but that would have given 21 megapixels. This one is 37 megapixels which is quite a difference. BTW, I just use Lightroom's panorama feature. I guess I could use photoshop, but I don't see any reason to do that right now.

So I was pretty proud of the result, of course. Thus beaming with pride, I asked Ginny to have a look and tell me what she thinks. She said "What's the point. I don't see a subject." I said that the point was the sunset with nice colors and pretty sun rays. She replied, "There is still no subject." And so I registered my displeasure with her opinion. She replied, "I am just getting more critical because your photography has gotten a lot better." Whoa, Bam, good answer, honey. She is right, you know.
