Obelisk, Robe SA

The Robe Obelisk, built on Cape Dombey in 1852, saved many lives. Not only did it help ships navigate into Guichen Bay but it stored life saving equipment such as large baskets that were fired by rockets out to sea to help passengers come ashore from sinking ships.

Sadly, the narrow section of rock that it stands on is crumbling away and so it will eventually fall into the sea itself.
