New toy! I love it when the UPS delivery vehicle shows up with a box from B&H Photo and Video. We had been seeking a waterproof camera in anticipation of some activities we have planned for this year. We looked at them at the camera shop. There were four models in consideration. After much debate, we decided on the Canon D30. What put it over the top was a friend of ours who got one and really liked it. It has the same 12 megapixels that our G15s have. The others were 16 megapixels, and it was tempting to go for that. What is also came down to was image quality. The DP Review of these waterproof cameras grudgingly admitted the Canon has good image quality. I sometimes feel that those guys are a little biased against Canon.

Great. Now it is time to go out and give it a try. Well, no sooner did I get out to the airport for a photo session than a huge thunderstorm hit. I headed home and decided that I will go out tomorrow and give it a real try in places where I shoot a lot.

I know a thunderstorm is the time to use a waterproof camera, but like you I'd head home for a whiskey
