David Alstead says that the first rule of DIY is to buy the right tool for the job and to buy the best you can afford. We are just about to do the wainscoting on the staircase and need to do an angled cut that’s longer than our mitre saw would do so we have invested some dosh in a sliding mitre saw that has a long enough cut for the job and it arrived in our local DIY shed after a click and collect purchase tonight. Well, actually it arrived yesterday but someone (who shall remain nameless) forgot his wallet yesterday with his proof of ID in it…and after I actually said to him on Sunday, you MUST take that with you tomorrow. Pah.
He decided that it had to be assembled and tested in the front lobby – he couldn’t even wait to get it into the house properly. Here he is, still clad in his work uniform, with a demonic look on his face. It’s ironic really because in all probability he won’t be the one using it at the weekend, it’ll be me.
DM is a great fan of the fact that David Alstead (aka my Dad) has drummed into me the first rule of DIY because it means he gets lots of new toys!
