Yesterday I noted that (1) I am not a bird photographer and (2) birds at the park are great targets of opportunity. Today (2) trumped (1) and I got this shot of a cardinal eating free peanuts that the Bay Area Park cat lady spreads on a picnic table. It was fortuitous for me because the sky was cloudy, but a break in the clouds illuminated the picnic table and I was able to get a decent shot.

John, I really really really enjoy your photos. I have looked at Pbase for several years but can't remembering commenting before this. I even enjoyed the pictures of Ginny's tomato and the meat loaf ingredients to salvage the turkey sausage. Your photographs and the accompanying text which I liked a lot show a loving, comfortable and fun relationship with Ginny, and your family and friends. I understand about having to get out to take photographs. My wife says how many pictures do I need looking down our drive way. It is over gravel and over a block long. And not only looking down our drive way, but looking back up the other way. I say well there,s the new grass of spring, and then that new grass with a dusting of snow. There is the summer with the Phlox in bloom, and autumn when the gingkos have dropped their leaves covering the drive way with a carpet of bright yellow and later the maples drop their red leaves. Then there is snows of winter, both light and heavy. So you see there is always something to photograph. Your picture of the cardinal was spot on. We enjoy going to historical villages, zoos, old cemeteries and just shooting things around here in St Joseph, where the Pony Express began and Jesse James ended. Once again you have a wonderful group of photographs. Keep shooting. You're doing great.

Thanks. Sunshine, at the right
angle, makes a big difference.

Definitely descended from Dinosaurs.
That sunshine makes a huge difference.

Great shot John, cardinals tend to be pretty nervous and it's not easy to shoot a good image
