Vermeer's "View of the Delf"

Mauritshuis Museum

This was a delightful museum which has an app for iPad that you could view without evening going to the museum! See what the app has to say about this painting to see what I mean:

I did not take any more pictures for some reason, except for some things in the gift shop.

I would go to Delft later that day to see this spot today.

A book I was reading which was about Vermeer's times, world trade with the Dutch, China, and the Spanish. He uses Vermeer's paintings as a jumping off point for this discussion, perhaps over interpreting the symbolism in them.

He claims that he could have used a Chinese painter but this painting is something you can still see today! (I include a photo from that spot so you could judge for yourself)
