My friend Mary and I had gone to search out bluebonnets for the day.
On the way home, I decided to stop by White Rock Lake to see if I might find Katie, the swan, as she has not been seen recently.
The water was murky from all the rain and the amount of trash was multiplying.
Sadly, I did not see Katie and certainly hope she is OK.
As I was shooting the birds (with a camera, that is) I nearly got goosed by a goose as this one honky fella looked like he was about to attack me.
I shoved my telephoto lens towards his beak in hopes of stopping him and then I took off running with the goose in hot pursuit. Finally he gave up on me! Whew!!!
So as I was recovering from the wild goose chase, I suddenly saw something running in the grass and into a puddle of water at break-neck speed.
I instinctively lifted the camera to my eye and started shooting and then realized it was a possum!
I continued to shoot as she ran through a puddle, and then climbed a tree, went out on a limb and then took refuge in her hidey-hole in the tree.
Evidently I had missed the beginning of the chase as one of the bystanders said that the goose started chasing the possum! Too bad I missed that shot!
As I watched, I noticed something sitting on her head. It was a baby!!! But I missed that shot too but got another one when one of the babies poked it's head up ever so briefly to see what was going on.
