Three portraits of a Mink taken with my 500 mm lens + 1.7 T.C (850mm) at a distance of approximately 8 meters (25 feet). Way too much lens. I took these head shots, then was able to take off the T.C. and get a few more shots at 500 mm. Still too much lens. The image I posted yesterday was shot at 500 mm, but it is a merger of two images as I still couldn't get the streched-out mink completely in one frame ( see http://www.pbase.com/image/159770379 )
Note, a few of us had been shooting water fowl in the river(hence the long lens) when all of a sudden the Mink was seen chasing a Chipmunk along the water's edge. When the mink saw us, it stopped for a second to look at us. The Chipmunk then got away. The Mink then scurried along behind some rocks but resurfaced when we made some mouse-like sounds, again giving us a good look before dissapearing into the reeds..
