Yeah, my destination, crawling with boisterous hikers, including a pompous fellow in his fifties, who was relating to his friends how he'd climbed Mt. Defiance once and that was enough: He said, "Been there done that." But climbing Mt. Defiance is usually perceived as a conditioning hike, performed every year to prepare the hiker for even more difficult treks on Mt. Hood and other neighboring volcanoes. This guy obviously didn't understand that, and understood Mt. Defiance as a conquest in its own right, something he could prove to himself that he could do it, and then put it aside.
