Philanthus Beewolf Wasp

Davenport, Lincoln Co, Washington

An adult Philanthus feeds on nectar at flowers. Here it seems to be drinking a sweet exude from the emerging flower of a Peony plant. This group of wasps are called Beewolves because they paralyze bees to store in their egg chamber.
