This cannon weighs 5 ¾ tons and was commissioned by the Knights of Malta and made in 1607. It is decorated with images representing the Order’s role. It was brought to England around 1800 and was at the Royal Arsenal in Woolrich until 1962, when it was transferred to the Tower of London.
The gun carriage was made in 1827 by order of the Duke of Wellington. It shows the Arms of Malta and scenes from the history of the island. An iron Maltese dog supports the back of the cannon.
