You will remember that tires have been a problem on our Honda Odyssey. The car came with Continental ContactPro tires (235/65 R17) as original equipment. We have put 56,000 miles on the car in the last three years. Almost all of it highway driving. That means the tires get great tread wear. Unfortunately, we have had problems. We have had three or four tread punctures, which is no fault of the tires. However, we have had two tire failures. One was a carcass failure at highway speed that made for an exciting 10 seconds of driving. The other was recently when we had a tread separation starting and were able to replace the tire before it failed.
We decided that 2 out of four tire failures due to tire design or construction indicated that new tires were in order. We decided that this time around we would cast our lot with Michelin Primacy MXV4. We had them installed today. It only took an hour. We leave for another road trip in less that two weeks. I can't wait to see how they feel and sound on the highway.
Ginny came along with me to get the tires. She is the financial brain of the outfit and she has handled all the transactions for the road hazard warranties. I wanted her along to make sure we get it right. As we were leaving I said "You deserve a spicy chicken Chick-Fil-A sandwich for coming along." She loves those sandwiches, but we seldom ever get them. I thought it was just a joke. Anyway, two blocks from the tire shop she spied a Chick-Fil-A store and said let's go. I was surprised, pleasantly so. We stopped in, got some sandwiches and enjoyed them in the car on the way home.
Life is good.
