I never would have dreamed that I would see a pair of Harris's Hawks in my own backyard, but I
sure did this afternoon! I came home from running errands in Benson, turned into my driveway
and startled this pair who were on the ground near a Mesquite tree. They flew past the end of
my driveway and landed on the wires at the electric pole at the back corner of my land. Wow!
When I moved to get a better point of view, they were gone. I found them in the sky beyond my
back acre. This was the best experience I've had of "backyard birding".
