There are many back packers tour company along this street Pham Ngu Lao Street district 1. Sagotour is one of them. Picking the tour at the beginning of the street gives you the advantage of getting a better seat in the bus. I decided to take a 3 days 2 nights tour for 1050 VND. Mistake - the 2 days 1 night tour which cost around US$30 is better. It is not actually a 3 days 2 nights tour but more like a 2 days + 1 additional night and they just lump you with some others and end up in a cheap hotel room and hours of cramp travelling in a tour van or bus, always packed to the brim. The tour details are:
Day 1. Saigon - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho. {Lunch provided}.Overnight at An Hotel very nice but no lift so its a walkup to as high as 4th floor, try to get lower floors unless you yearn the exercise.
Ffor dinner visit the night market along the promenade are many great restaurants or hawker food.
Day 2. Can Tho - Long Xuyen - Chau Doc {Breakfast provided}. The hoghlight of the tour visiting the floating market of Can Tho river in the morning.Those on 2 Days tour will leave for HCMC after the boat ride and those on 3 days will change bus and proceed to Chau Doc and the room above the coffeeshop. Breakfast still provided.
Day 3. Chau Doc - Long Xuyen - Saigon. In Chau Doc vist a temple. then boat trip to a floating village muslim minority known as Cham. Visit the floating village then its a long crammy hot ride back to Saigon about 7 hours. Its hot because the air con cannot cater to an overloaded bus, a 25 seater with 29 people and the seat is narrow and uncomfortable.
