We discovered a pair of these caracaras at Lake Kissimmee State Park in Central Florida. They were very interesting to watch and photograph.
Apparently they were attracted to this particular spot because of a dead skunk they were feeding on. One did catch a live anole lizard in the grass near the carcass while we were observing them.
They are very striking birds and unlike any other raptors found in the United States.
