Day 6 Cape Tribulation

best viewed at original size

The crew of the first European ship to visit this region (the Endeavour, in 1770) didn’t have the benefit of the charts, GPSs and sonar that we had. Their ship ran aground on a reef near here (Endeavour Reef) and was badly damaged.
Captain James Cook recorded "...the north point [was named] Cape Tribulation because here begun all our troubles".

I think we went this far up... reminds me how dense the foliage was... that strip of sand
is where we walked possibly. v

Great info! The image convinces me that there are still wild places on this planet.

read about the incident recently, so good to see what it looks like - would they have sailed past a thousand miles of similar?
