From the Courtyard of the Memorial one can see the downtown skyline and Union Station. The site for construction of the Liberty Memorial was deliberately chosen to be prominently visible from Union Station and the thousands of travelers that passed through this important transportation hub connecting the western and eastern parts of the nation.
