Feeding birds in the winter implies feeding birds higher on the predator chain as well. This Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)
made a successful catch of a White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica). These Doves mob our feeders in extremely great numbers
all winter long, so the loss of one or two does not cause me any loss of sleep.
