The steeply dipping rocks in the background are Cretaceous carbonates making up the west flank of the Solitario dome. The gap in this flank -- the Right Hand Shut Up -- was the destination for this hike. I hiked 4.2 miles down Fresno Canyon from the Pila Montoya #3 campsite to the Right Hand Shut Up Trailhead. This section of Fresno Canyon Road is part of the Epic Ride in the park.
