Another vote for the 18~135-STM, I find it to be a very good lens, far better than expected, and an excellent walk around range....though I bought for the video capabilities...it is not one of my primes, but still a very useful lens that delivers very good IQ.

Nice lines in this shot; and a great place to be this winter.

Thanks, Daniel, for your kind words! I agree that the eye of the photographer is more important than the equipment used, but so far I have been very happy with this lens. It's the latest "STM" version and, from what I have read, is much better optically than the earlier non-STM version (which I have never used, so I can't compare the two.) The light and composition of this image just all came together while waiting for our turn to off-load from the tender to the ship. - Ken

Thanks, Traveller! Actually, the ship did not dock in Belize, but anchored offshore instead. Passengers were then transferred to and from shore using "tenders" (20 to 30 passenger smaller boats.) That happens sometimes when there is not a dock available that is big enough to handle the big ships. This image was taken from one of the tenders returning to the ship in the late afternoon. Further back, along side the ship, you can see another of the tenders already unloading passengers to the ship while my tender waits its turn. Even though I titled this image "Red Dawn" that's because of the name of the ship (Norwegian Dawn) instead of the time of day. - Ken

Really great shot (though taken with a lens I never liked, which proves once more that the eye of the photographer is much more important than the optical/technical quality of his tool!). Phantastic light too ... I like the image a lot, KChristian, and also it's «pun and fun» title! ~ db.

Ahhh Belize....I always think fondly of that country, it is a shame I never made it back there. And, wintering in the Carribean sound good even here from So Cal.

Striking image, great POV...but shoudn't you be on this ship....either with it leaving or, if arriving, what are you doing on the Dock?!

Our Ken's magic...
